About us
b-it-bots
The b-it-bots team has participated in the Robocup@Home league since 2007. Previously, our team name was AIS/BIT Robots, which participated in the RoboCup Mid-Size Soccer league until 2006.
The team consists of members of the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University (BRSU) and is primarily sponsored and supported by this University, and the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (B-IT).
Please visit: aisbit.de for information about our robot soccer team. We participated in the RoboCup since 1998, our recent and earlier participation in the competition can be found here.

Our Team
Our team consists of two professors, six research associates and nine students. Most of the students are working on research projects which are an integral part of the Master’s Programme in Autonomous Systems. Each student works on one specific scientific topic in robotics, such as navigation, visual servoing, face recognition and speech recognition to name a few. The test bed is ‘Johnny’, a service robot for the household. All research activities are integrated into one coherent system which is also one major focus within our research group.
The team is supervised by Prof. Dr. Paul Plöger, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Kraetzschmar and Dr. Ronny Hartanto. BRSU has set up a laboratory where they installed a tournament-like @home league environment (which in previous times was the midsize soccer-league field). This provides us with the right environment to develop, operate and test a working robot. Besides that, we also use a simulator in order to speed up the pace of experiments.
A word of thanks to our sponsors
We gratefully acknowledge the support of our sponsors: The President of BRSU, the Department of Computer Science, the Association of friends and sponsors of BRSU, PMD Tech. Siegen, and DAAD.
